Dr. Gorton specializes in trauma/critical care, acute care and general surgery. After finishing her General Surgery Residency in Des Moines, Iowa, she furthered her training in a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Virginia Tech Carilion. She practices both open and minimally invasive general surgery as well as focused thoracic and pediatric surgery. Her clinical interests include critical care and traumatic brain injury research. She has authored several articles published in peer-reviewed journals and presents her research at both regional and national conferences.
Dr. Gorton spends her free time enjoying the fresh air with her miniature Australian Shepherd. She is an avid dressage rider, mountain biker, hiker, skier, gardener, aspiring chef and artist.
