Dr. Akhigbe (pronounced Ah-he-bay) is a board-certified Obstetrician Gynecologist who practices the full spectrum of her specialty. She provides compassionate, personalized care to all patients and treats the relationship as a partnership with open dialogue to facilitate a patient's decision-making capacity. Dr. Akhigbe is particularly interested in the diverse management options for uterine fibroids. Outside of medical practice, She is an avid traveler who has visited over 30 countries in Africa, Latin America and the middle East. She loves Theater arts and has been taking violin lessons for the past 4 years.
For this past decade of independent practice, I have enjoyed building relationships with my patients and participating in their health care decisions in every stage of their reproductive life as well as addressing menstrual and other gynecological issues. I chose obstetrics and gynecology because it gave me the opportunity to specialize in both the medical and surgical management of one specific system. For most patients, the female reproductive/gynecological system interacts with other organ systems and in some patients, this interaction is significantly detrimental. Therefore, collaboration with other specialties is essential to treating a person in whole not just as a sum of their parts.
