Nasal congestion during pregnancy, or pregnancy rhinitis, is a common yet uncomfortable occurrence. According to Omoikhefe Akhigbe, M.D., OBGYN at Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Mid-Atlantic, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group, it can happen at any point in pregnancy and may recur intermittently or last for up to six weeks at a time. Symptoms include having a stuffy nose, post-nasal drip, snoring and possibly itchy eyes. To relieve congestion naturally, Dr. Akhigbe recommends drinking plenty of fluids, using a humidifier, using a saline nasal spray or nasal rinse and elevating your head or laying on your side at night while you sleep.
