At-Home Yeast Infection Testing

At-home test kits for yeast infections are widely available, though its best to see a health care provider if you’re experiencing symptoms. According to Jill Purdie, M.D., a board-certified OBGYN and medical director at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group, yeast infections can cause irritation, inflammation and discomfort of the vagina and vulva. Accuracy will depend on the type of test you choose, said Dr. Purdie. Tests that are based on vaginal pH are limited, whereas lab-based tests are more comprehensive as they check vaginal fluid for the presence of yeast or other bacteria.
