Our obstetricians and gynecologists (OBGYNs) and midwives offer prenatal care for pregnant women experiencing a normal pregnancy without any risk factors. The first appointment may involve a complete physical exam, including a pap smear, routine prenatal lab work and an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy is viable and calculate a due date. Additional appointments are scheduled throughout the pregnancy, increasing in frequency as the due date approaches. During an obstetric appointment, an OBGYN will perform routine screenings and tests to identify potential risk factors and recommend additional testing or preventative measures as needed. These visits also serve as an opportunity for patients to ask questions and discuss concerns related to the pregnancy or labor and delivery.

Our OBGYNs collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists to provide prenatal care to women with high-risk pregnancy conditions. We manage pregnancies with both maternal and fetal complications, including diabetes, hypertension, advance maternal age and fetal anomalies. We offer the highest level of care by delivering all our patients at Northside Hospital, Atlanta campus.

Often called a sonogram, an obstetric ultrasound is a diagnostic procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to generate images of the fetus. Our office performs on-site obstetrical ultrasound at both locations.

Our OBGYNs and women’s health nurse practitioners care for women throughout all phases of their life cycle, including teenagers having their first gynecological visit, reproductive-age women with fertility concerns and older women experiencing menopausal challenges. We have clinicians with additional training in both adolescent gynecology and menopause management. We routinely care for patients with multiple gynecology issues, such as:

• Abnormal pap smears
• Endometriosis

• Painful menstrual cycles
• Vaginal infections
• Perimenopause
• Menopause

Adolescence is a unique time in the life a young woman. Our caring providers offer reassurance and treatment options for common concerns, such as painful periods, heavy menstrual bleeding and contraceptive needs.

As a woman ages, her body produces less estrogen, resulting in perimenopause followed by no estrogen, termed menopause. This may begin any time between 40 and 60 years of age. We offer treatment options to women experiencing uncomfortable symptoms, such as hot flashes or sleep problems, and screen for additional health risks caused by the body's lack of estrogen.

Infertility is typically defined as no pregnancy after one year of trying to conceive. Our OBGYNs are trained in the evaluation and management of basic infertility. We perform tests to diagnosis fertility issues and offer treatment options, including oral medication and intrauterine insemination (IUI). Our specially trained physician performs the sperm wash and IUI on-site at both office locations.

Our OBGYNs perform several in-office procedures, such as colposcopy, LEEP, endometrial biopsies and vulvar biopsies.

We provide in-house gynecological ultrasound to evaluate common gynecologic concerns, including abnormal bleeding, painful periods and pelvic pain. We also perform specialized ultrasounds, such as 3D and saline-infused sonograms for added diagnostic purposes.

Our practice offers counseling and education on all types of contraception, including insertion of LARCs (long acting reversible contraception), such as IUDs and implants.

Our OBGYNs are trained to diagnose and manage gynecological problems requiring surgical treatment, including:

• Hysterectomies — Laparoscopic and robotic
• Diagnostic and operative laparoscopy for benign conditions, such as ovarian cysts and endometriosis
• Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy to remove benign growths and perform endometrial ablations
• Surgical treatment of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancies
