Mackenzie grew up in Saint Joseph, Missouri. She completed her Bachelor of Science in nursing at the University of Missouri in 2013, and then completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice, specializing as a pediatric nurse practitioner, in May of 2019. Mackenzie worked on a pediatric med surge floor at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for two years before moving to Colorado in 2015. She worked as a nurse and then charge nurse at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in the pediatric peri-operative department for four years. Mackenzie had experiences in a wide variety of pediatric specific clinical rotations during her doctoral program, including pediatric primary care, pediatric ENT, pediatric gynecology, pediatric pulmonology and many more.
