Frederico Vieira, M.D., received his medical degree from Federal University of Paraná in Brazil. He completed his pediatric residency at Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania, and his neonatal-perinatal fellowship training at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City.

Board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Vieira is helping develop a point-of-care ultrasound program in the neonatal intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and its section on Neonatal-Perinatal Pediatrics. He is interested in neonatal hemodynamics and has published work on inhaled nitric oxide in preterm newborns. He also researched inflammatory pathways in animal models of retinopathy of prematurity.
