Pediatric Neurologist Provides Lifesaving Care in Kenya

Karen Keough, M.D., a pediatric neurologist at Pediatrix® Specialty Care of Austin, has been traveling to Kenya for six years to provide children with specialized medical care they would not normally have access to. "It's really what you go into medicine for in the first place, and that was what keeps me going back,” said Dr. Keough. This summer, Dr. Keough and other physicians returned for the first time since before 2020 to provide in-person medical care. For a week, they saw about 50 to 60 patients daily. “That's a really powerful thing, to see the presence that we've been able to have in the community.”
