While stretch marks are a reminder of the incredible changes your body went through during pregnancy, they can sometimes be a point of insecurity. Fortunately, stretch mark creams can help repair or reduce the appearance of scarring. "The only cream I would recommend is to use a retinol cream such as Retin-A," said Amy Wetter, M.D., a board-certified OBGYN at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. while Retin-A requires a prescription, it’s highly effective. "Retinoids may help in treating stretch marks by increasing cell turnover, which increases the production of elastin and collagen," explained Dr. Wetter. "This increase in elastin and collagen may help to fade hyperpigmentation and smooth the uneven skin."
