Should infants receive the flu vaccine?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the flu shot annually for anyone 6 months and older. “The flu causes high fever, chills, body aches, headache, runny nose and cough,” said Sydney Kometani, M.D., a pediatrician at Pediatrix® Austin’s First Steps. Children with the flu are at risk for pneumonia, dehydration and encephalitis. Preventing the flu will also help avoid these other serious illnesses.
