Checking Your Child for Lice

Head lice is a common issue among school-aged children, typically spread in daycare, nursery or school settings. "Anybody can get head lice and personal hygiene and cleanliness has nothing to do with getting head lice,” said Jiny Coronado, M.D., pediatrician at Pediatrix® Urgent Care of Texas. Dr. Coronado said parents can check for lice in a well-lit room, parting hair into small sections and examining the scalp, the area around the ears and back of the neck for nits or lice eggs.
