A wake window is a period that an infant is awake between sleep. They can be helpful in shaping a sleep schedule for your baby as they grow. Jenelle Ferry, M.D., a neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Florida, shared a recommended schedule that parents and caregivers can follow as a basic guideline for typical sleep patterns. For example, newborns two months or younger should have a wake window of 45-90 minutes with 4-6 naps per day while 6-month-olds should have a wake window of two and a half hours with three naps per day.
