Dr. Elkousy joined MFAMA (now Maternal-Fetal Medicine of the Mid-Atlantic) in 2002 after completing his maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During his fellowship, he pursued numerous research interests and has had publications on preterm labor, cervical incompetence, vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC) with success rates related to VBAC and gestational diabetes. In addition, he completed a Master of Science in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Having practiced general obstetrics and gynecology for several years prior to pursuing his fellowship, he has a great understanding of patient’s needs as well as their referring physicians. Dr. Elkousy’s current clinical interests include all aspects of women’s health and maternal-fetal medicine with a special interest in obstetric ultrasound, preconception counseling, recurrent pregnancy loss and miscarriage, cervical incompetence, high risk pregnancy, genetic testing, placenta previa and preeclampsia.

Dr. Elkousy is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine and is a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Elkousy is certified by the Foundation for the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine for nuchal translucency screening and CLEAR certification for preterm labor screening.
