The Miles Circuit is a set of movements intended to help position the baby for spontaneous labor. It aims to place the baby head-down, facing the mother's spine, with their head slightly toward her left side, which is the ideal fetal position. According to Tania Lopez, CNM, a certified nurse-midwife at Pediatrix® OB Hospitalists of Texas, this position can also make your labor less painful, make your contractions more efficient and reduce your risk for C-section. “When baby’s head is turned in a face-up position or is flexed to the side instead of straight down, labor can be prolonged, more painful or stop progressing altogether,” explained Lopez.
