Pregnancy doesn’t have to put your sex life on hold. Many sex positions can remain comfortable and enjoyable while you’re expecting, including tried-and-true options like spooning. This position allows for “better control of depth and movement,” said Summer Okimoto, a certified nurse-midwife at Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists of Georgia, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. While most sex positions are safe during a low-risk pregnancy, once you reach about 20 weeks, Okimoto recommended avoiding “prolonged flat-on-the-back positions as they can reduce blood flow and cause dizziness.” She also emphasized that any position that “causes pain, shortness of breath, lightheadedness or discomfort should be stopped.”
