The Physician Assistant Neonatal Residency with Pediatrix Neonatology of Georgia is a 12-month intensive program designed for graduate physician assistants (PAs) seeking to subspecialize in neonatology. This residency will provide the PA with the crucial skills needed to deliver comprehensive, team-based care for high-risk and convalescing newborns, and includes:
- Mentoring
- Didactic teaching
- Simulations
- Skills training
- Clinical experiences
Program Objectives
At the completion of this residency, PA trainees will be able to provide complete care to neonates throughout their NICU stay, provide high-quality neonatal care, including neonatal resuscitation, stabilization and transportation, and provide thorough care for neonates in the well-baby nursery and neonatal intensive care unit.
Curriculum
The Physician Assistant Neonatal Residency includes university-led classroom didactics, simulation training and bedside skills. On-site teaching will be provided by a multi-disciplinary team including:
- Neonatologists and subspecialists
- Neonatal nurse practitioners
- Neonatal pharmacists and dietitians
- Nurses and lactation specialists
- Therapists from speech, occupational and physical therapy
Pre-requisites
- Graduate of an ARC-PA-accredited PA Program
- Must be a NCPPA Certified PA prior to matriculating
- Must attain licensure as a PA in GA prior to matriculating

- On-site interview with the program director and medical director of the program
