Chisom Iwueke, M.D.

Chisom C. Iwueke, M.D., is a proud native of Anambra, Nigeria, where her earliest experiences shaped her lifelong passion for maternal health and advocacy. She graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University, earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), completed her OBGYN residency at Emory University School of Medicine and went on to complete her maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is board-certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.
While at MUSC, Dr. Iwueke received the College of Medicine Dean’s Award and was selected to serve on the distinguished Admissions Committee, where she worked alongside university leadership to select the next generation of physicians for one of the nation’s oldest medical universities. During her residency training at Emory, she served on the Quality Enhancement Committee and was honored multiple times for excellence in teaching and medical education. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Iwueke conducted research on the novel repurposing of FDA-approved medications as uterotonic agents in the management of postpartum hemorrhage.
Dr. Iwueke is now a maternal-fetal medicine physician with Pediatrix Medical Group, caring for women in Houston, Texas, through an MFM practice dedicated to high- quality, patient-centered care. Dr. Iwueke is a proud Pediatrix and Obstetrix Ambassador, with professional interests including practice growth and development, community outreach and patient education, with a strong focus on empowering women to become informed, confident self-advocates in their care.
Above all, she considers her greatest achievement to be raising her three young children with her physician husband, Izu, and intentionally building a family grounded in faith, purpose, compassion and excellence.
