About

Carol Collins developed a passion for health care at a young age. She pursued her undergraduate education at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in December 2000. This foundational education equipped her with the essential nursing skills and knowledge that she would later apply throughout her extensive career in maternal and fetal medicine.

In April 2023, Collins furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Science degree as a family nurse practitioner from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. This advanced degree allowed her to expand her clinical expertise and prepare for more specialized roles within the health care system.

Collins began her nursing career shortly after completing her undergraduate studies. From 2000 to 2002, she worked as a staff RN/charge nurse on the intermediate care unit (IMCU) and trauma floor at Erlanger Medical Center’s main campus in Chattanooga, Tennessee. During this time, she honed her critical care skills and developed a strong foundation in patient management.

In 2002, Collins transitioned to the labor and delivery (L&D) unit at Erlanger Medical Center. Over the next thirteen years (2002-2015), she became an integral part of the L&D team, providing compassionate care to expectant mothers and their families during one of life’s most significant moments. Her dedication to maternal health led to her promotion as team leader RN at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville from 2015 to 2018. In this role, she not only managed patient care but also mentored new nurses and contributed to improving departmental protocols.

Continuing her commitment to women’s services, Collins served as a staff RN in women’s services and labor and delivery at St. Thomas Midtown from 2018 until 2020. She then joined Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee, where she continued to focus on women’s health until 2023.

In 2023, Collins took a significant step forward in her career by becoming a family nurse practitioner at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon, Tennessee. This role marked a transition into advanced practice nursing, where she could utilize her extensive experience while providing comprehensive care for women throughout their reproductive lives.

Carol Collins joined Tennessee Maternal Fetal Medicine (now Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists of Tennessee) in March of 2023 and offers services across several locations. In her role, she applies both her clinical expertise and compassionate approach to support high-risk pregnancies and ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and their babies.

Throughout her career, Carol has been driven by a deep commitment to patient-centered care. She believes that every patient deserves individualized attention and support during their health care journey. Her extensive experience in labor and delivery has instilled in her the importance of empathy and communication when working with expectant mothers.

Collins is dedicated not only to providing high-quality medical care but also to educating patients about their health options. She actively engages with families to empower them through knowledge about maternal-fetal health issues.

With over two decades of experience in nursing, particularly in maternal-fetal medicine, Carol Collins exemplifies a dedication to women’s health through both practice and education. Her journey from bedside nurse to family nurse practitioner reflects a lifelong commitment to improving maternal health outcomes within the community she serves.
