Ramiro Caballero, M.D.

About

Dr. Ramiro Caballero is a board-certified neonatologist with more than 40 years of dedicated experience in neonatal-perinatal medicine. He has provided specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns in the Rio Grande Valley since 1986. Throughout his career, he has delivered neonatal services across multiple regional hospitals while holding key leadership roles.

Dr. Caballero serves with Pediatrix Medical Group in McAllen, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts with honors from The University of Texas at Austin, and his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed his pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

He has held multiple leadership positions, including medical director of neonatal intensive care units, chief of pediatrics, and chief of staff. Dr. Caballero serves as adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He remains committed to high-quality, family-centered care for newborns and families in the Rio Grande Valley.
