About

Dr. Waer received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016. He moved to Charlotte, NC to complete his Pediatric Residency at Levine Children’s Hospital. Wanting to explore the western part of the United States, he moved to Phoenix, AZ to complete his Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, finishing in the Spring of 2022. He is board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and is awaiting to take his Pediatric Critical Care Boards in the Fall of 2022.

Starting the in the Summer of 2022, Dr. Waer and his family moved to the Richmond area so that he could start his Pediatric Critical Care career at the St. Mary’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, part of the Bon Secours Mercy Health system. He is excited to start serving the critically ill children of the greater Richmond area and is honored to help guide his patients and their families through their critical illness journeys.

When not working, Dr. Waer can be found enjoying the outdoors with his wife and two kids, trying (poorly) to teach himself how to play guitar or cheering on his alma mater at various Tar Heel football or basketball games.
