Viswanathan Subramanian, M.D., received his medical degree from Madras Medical College, South India, where he graduated with honors. He worked for the World Health Organization in India prior to completing neonatal training in London. He served as a consultant to National Women's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, before completing a fellowship in neonatology at Kentucky Children's Hospital at Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington.

Board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatric medicine, Dr. Subramanian is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and its section on Perinatal Pediatrics. He has been an AAP-certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program® instructor for more than 25 years. In addition, he is a member of the antepartum ethics committee at Mercy Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Dr. Subramanian participated in research as a fellow and is involved in several quality improvement projects in his current role. He has published two articles and presented several abstracts in his international career, and contributed a chapter in Gomella's Neonatology. His professional interests include parenteral nutrition, neonatal therapeutic hypothermia and neonatal pharmacology.
