James Barry, M.D., MBA, joined Pediatrix as the Chief Clinical Quality & Transformation Officer in June 2026. A neonatologist recognized for his contributions in neonatal critical care, artificial intelligence in medicine, patient safety and health care leadership, Dr. Barry’s work focuses on delivering measurable, durable improvements in complex health care systems. He co-founded two national organizations: NeoMINDAI, a learning collaborative for neonatologists, data scientists and clinical informaticists related to the application of artificial intelligence in neonatology and pediatric medicine, and the Clinical Leader’s Group of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which is a training, education and collaboration resource for medical and quality directors of neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in the United States. Dr. Barry joined Pediatrix from University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he was the Medical Director of a level III NICU at University of Colorado Hospital and Chair of Newborn Collaborative services across the University of Colorado Healthcare system. He was Professor of Pediatrics and practiced as a neonatologist, mainly at the University of Colorado Hospital and Children's Hospital Colorado for 25 years.
