Dr. Jorge Del Toro is a pediatrician and pediatric critical care specialist who joined Broward Health upon completing a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Hospital.
He served as medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Broward Health. He has held various operational and leadership roles, including Vice President and Regional Medical Officer, Vice President of Clinical Education, Chief Medical Officer for Women’s and Children’s Services, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Executive Director of the Office of Professional Well-Being. He is currently Vice President for Clinical Talent Acquisition and Development at Pediatrix Medical Group.
Dr. Del Toro holds undergraduate and medical school degrees from the University of Puerto Rico. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of PuertoRico Children’s Hospital and holds an MBA from the University of Miami Graduate School of Business, with a specialization in management. Dr. Del Toro is also a 2021graduate of Stanford’s Chief Wellness Officer training in its third cohort.
Dr. Del Toro is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds Certified Physician Executive status from the American Association of Physician Leadership (formerly American College of Physician Executives).
He served as a general pediatrician in the US Public Health Service (non-commissioned corps) and is a past president of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Del Toro has special interests in clinical leadership development, organizationaldynamics and clinical provider health and wellness.
