It's a common fear among parents to see their baby fall off the bed, but here’s how you should respond if it happens. “Immediately following a fall, check for any visible injuries, including bruising, bleeding, fractures or injuries to baby’s head,” said Yaron Ivan, M.D., a board-certified pediatric emergency medicine specialist at Pediatrix® Emergency Medicine of Nevada. “Head injuries that are associated with loss of consciousness or vomiting shortly after the fall are oftentimes associated with a significant injury and require medical attention,” said Dr. Ivan. You will also want to comfort and console baby and let them sleep without worrying about trying to keep them awake. “If your child didn’t lose consciousness, isn’t vomiting and [their] behavior is otherwise normal, there’s no reason to keep them awake,” explained Dr. Ivan.
