The effects of COVID-19 on children with ADHD

The impact of COVID-19 on our society has been significant. However, for those suffering from other conditions, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the impact of the pandemic is far more prevalent. “Youth with ADHD are even more susceptible than average to these mental health conditions, and then the symptoms of ADHD make pandemic life more challenging, thereby increasing the stress and the risk for mental health problems — a vicious cycle,” said Michael Reardon, M.D., pediatric neurologist at Pediatrix Child Neurology Consultants of Austin.
