Dr. Snow recommends parents follow the ABCs: Alone, on their Back and on a Crib.

He says a baby should be swaddled without any kind of blankets or toys around them. And while a baby could sleep in the parent’s room, they should not share a bed. Instead, he suggests putting a baby’s crib, bassinet or playpen right next to the bed – but not on it.
