Pediatricians weigh in on the rise in COVID-related child hospitalizations

The American Academy of Pediatrics reported that 11% of all child COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic occurred during the first two weeks of January, representing a significant spike in cases for children. “I think this time last year we were all really hopeful we wouldn’t still be here,” said Tracy Butler, M.D., pediatric ICU director at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. “It’s sad that we are currently in this peak situation.”
