Amid the shortage of infant formula, parents are traveling long distances to ensure they can feed their child. While most are forced to accept whatever brand they can find, there are concerns about what effects switching brands may have. “For the majority of infants, changing brands of standard formula will not have adverse consequences,” said Jenelle Ferry, M.D., neonatologist and director of feeding, nutrition and infant development at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Florida. “In cases of infants on specialty formulas, like hydrolyzed formulas, check with your pediatrician for other brand options with similar characteristics,” said Dr. Ferry.
