With the Omicron variant comes a new concern for parents, croup, which tends to affect younger children most. “While older kids have been complaining of congestion and sore throats, younger children — less than 2 years of age — have often been presenting with a croup cough,” said Kristina Deeter, M.D., pediatric intensivist and specialty medical officer for pediatric critical care medicine at Pediatrix® Medical Group. “We are most commonly seeing toddlers around 18 months of age being admitted with a croupy cough.”
