NICU birthday party celebrates micro-preemies born at 22 weeks

Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando, Florida recently hosted a micro-preemie birthday party. The event brought together parents of babies born at 22 weeks, including the smallest baby to survive at Winnie Palmer Hospital, cared for by Thais Queliz, M.D., neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Florida. “We’re talking about a very complex premature baby,” said Dr. Queliz. “Because of her, we had to develop many guidelines and protocols just to care for her. I know we helped her, but she’s also helped the program.”
