As flu season is upon us and younger children are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, parents have questions about the timing of each vaccine and whether they should be taken simultaneously. “If you are concerned about taking both vaccines at once, priority should be given to the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Kristina Deeter, M.D., pediatric intensivist at Renown Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care and Hospitalist Medicine, part of the Pediatrix® family. “However, it is important to get the flu vaccine soon as infections are beginning to occur across the country. Similar to other vaccines, it will take your body about two weeks to develop immunity after the flu vaccine.”
