Although it can be exhausting when your baby wants to feed in frequent "clusters" throughout the day, it is a completely normal behavior. “Cluster feeding is a natural part of the supply and demand of milk production,” explained Jenelle Ferry, M.D., a board-certified neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Florida. “These periods are important for establishing milk supply and regulating it in the long term.” To help cope, make sure you’re comfortable. Dr. Ferry recommended baby wearing to keep baby close. It’s also perfectly fine to pause your to-do list. “Try adjusting chores or errands (or delaying them for a couple of days), opt for easier meals during this time and enlist help,” suggested Dr. Ferry.
