Shaylie Edwards of Reno, Nevada is celebrating a big milestone this week as she graduates kindergarten, which also marks the three-year anniversary of a life-threatening accident. On June 6,2019, she was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk and suffered severe injuries. She spent three months n the pediatric intensive care unit under the care of Kristina Deeter, M.D., pediatric intensivist and medical director at Pediatrix® Critical Care and Hospitalists of Nevada. She says watching patients like Shaylie grow stronger every day is what makes her job rewarding. “Everything that she’s been able to do and accomplish has just been an amazing thing for us as providers to see,” said Dr. Deeter.
