Experiencing Uterine Prolapse

Most women who have delivered babies through the vaginal canal, and approximately half of women aged 50 and above, have some level of uterine prolapse. Uterine prolapse is commonly described as a descending uterus, where the uterus protrudes into the vaginal canal due to weakened support. “This is caused by relaxation or damage to the muscles and ligaments of the pelvic floor,” said Jill Purdie, M.D., an OBGYN and medical director at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group.
