COVID's impact on children with ADHD

The switch in routine or lack of routine as a result of COVID has had a significant impact on children with attention-deficient hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). According to Michael Reardon, M.D., pediatric neurologist at Pediatrix® Child Neurology Consultants of Austin, most of them had difficulty maintaining focus or regulating their attention on what was most important during the pandemic. The pandemic provided lots of reminders of the issues ADHD creates for them, he noted. “You’ve lost the structure of the classroom and the daily schedule of shifting from one classroom to another,” said Dr. Reardon.
