Nausea, heartburn and anxiety are three of many causes of insomnia during pregnancy. While pregnancy-induced insomnia can occur during any gestational age, it’s most prominent in the third trimester. “Pregnancy insomnia is the inability to sleep or sleep well during pregnancy, particularly in a person who doesn’t have sleep issues outside of pregnancy,” said Jill Purdie, M.D., OBGYN and medical director at Northside Women’s Specialists, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group.
