The new Apple Series 8 watch includes a highly sensitive temperature sensor and a health app to help track ovulation. In addition to tracking basal body temperature, ovulation trackers collect information about changes in cervical fluid around the time of ovulation or results from an ovulation predictor test. Ovulation trackers use all the combined data to create a pattern after a few months of tracking that help predict the monthly ovulation window. “Sperm can live for five days but once released, the egg can only survive 24-48 hours unless it is fertilized,” said Susan Lipinski, M.D., OBGYN at Obstetrix® of Colorado, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. “For those wishing to conceive or to avoid pregnancy, ovulation tracking is an excellent way to do so.”
