Extremely Premature Newborn Fought to go Home

Amandi Omokore-Allen was born at 23 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound, 5 ounces. After a 155-day journey in the NICU with many ups and downs, the bright-eyed baby boy could finally join his parents at home. “He’s extremely resilient,” said Sami Smith, a neonatal nurse practitioner at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Texas who helped care for Amandi. “He’s a fighter. He has that drive. He really just took the reins and ran with it.”
