Are Parents Complying With COVID-19 Public Health Guidelines?

Results from a 2021 study recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) revealed that a significant number of parents have not consistently been forthcoming about their children’s COVID-19 status and have not consistently adhered to quarantine guidelines when their children tested positive. Today, things appear different now that infections are lower, vaccines are widely available and most U.S. children have been infected with COVID. “Parents have grown accustomed to dealing with COVID and COVID symptoms over the past three years,” said Zachary Hoy, M.D., a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Pediatrix® Nashville Pediatric Infectious Disease. “The parents I have seen in our infectious disease clinic and the hospital have reported appropriate quarantine practices, even the ones I have seen recently.”
