8K ultrasounds are increasingly popular as expectant parents desire highly realistic images of their babies in utero. According to Becky Grove, R.D.M.S., R.D.C.S., the chief sonographer at Perinatal Associates of the Mid-Atlantic, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group, an 8K ultrasound is a high-resolution imaging technique that provides a detailed and realistic view of a developing fetus, typically depicting facial features and body proportions. Most obstetric offices typically utilize standard 2D ultrasounds. “8K ultrasounds are really meant for a cute picture and do not have any diagnostic use,” she explained. Grove said parents should feel confident in relying on 2D ultrasounds for monitoring their little one throughout pregnancy.
