Your baby’s nine-month checkup is approaching and may differ from earlier visits. Christopher Klunk, M.D., a board-certified neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Texas, noted that at the nine-month visit, your pediatrician will use a standardized developmental screening tool – a questionnaire to assess your baby's current skills – for the first time. If you’re concerned about your baby's development, this is an ideal time to discuss it. "The first and most important step to take if you feel your little one is lagging is to speak with your pediatrician," said Dr. Klunk. You can review the screening results and talk about next steps together. "Getting [your baby] what they need as early as possible is key to long-term success," added Dr. Klunk.
