As your baby nears nine months, their babbling becomes more expressive and complex, reflecting important communication development by mimicking sounds and rhythms. While their expanding range of sounds is captivating, there's more: the noises they produce are shaped by the languages they are exposed to. “[Babies] definitely don’t all sound the same,” said Christopher Klunk, M.D., a neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Texas. “Factors such as the language and accents they are exposed to will change how they sound as they try to copy what they hear,” said Dr. Klunk. If your baby hasn't achieved this milestone yet, it's perfectly normal. “Not all babies start at exactly the same time,” he said.
