Celebrating Our Team Members This Labor Day, and Every Day

For many, Labor Day marks the end of summer. It’s a day off, a long weekend, a time for one last summer barbecue or simply quality time with family and friends before the hectic fall season begins. 

But health care does not take days off. For clinicians and those who support their work, Labor Day can be another busy day at the hospital or clinic. 

Every day, in 37 states, Pediatrix and Obstetrix clinicians and hearing screen technicians on average:

• Care for 5,400+ babies in the NICU
• Attend more than 2,500 newborns in the nursery
• Treat 1,200 high-risk pregnant patients
• Attend more than 300 deliveries
• Treat more than 450 hospitalized pediatric patients
• Conduct 2,100 newborn hearing screens

This Sept. 7, we pause to remember the true purpose of Labor Day – to celebrate and honor the contributions of workers in America. We honor our compassionate, devoted clinicians, health services support team members and hearing screen technicians, who sacrifice weekends and holidays with their loved ones and work long shifts to help ensure that highly skilled care is there when and where patients need it.
