On Aug. 7 at noon ET, Vivienne Souter, M.D., MPH, explores "Ultrasound Findings in Single-Gene Disorders."

After this session, participants will be able to: 

• Describe current American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics recommendations for reproductive carrier screening and their application in clinical practice.
• Identify at least three conditions included on reproductive carrier screening panels for which in utero therapies are currently being investigated in clinical trials.
• Evaluate the clinical manifestations of heterozygous ("carrier") status and discuss the potential implications for pregnancy outcomes and long-term health.

Dr. Souter is an OBGYN and clinical geneticist by training and is based in Seattle. She worked in clinical medicine until 2021 and now works as an independent consultant in biotech and health care. She has a master's degree in public health and is an affiliate faculty member with the School of Public Health at the University of Washington in Seattle. Her main research interests are genetics and women's health, quality improvement in obstetrics and machine learning to improve risk stratification in obstetrics.
