Common ADHD diet myths

There are several common diet myths about which foods can help or hinder symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. Perhaps the most common is that sugar is a top cause, yet the impact of added sugar on ADHD isn’t entirely clear as much of the evidence is anecdotal, according to Dilip Karnik, M.D., pediatric neurologist at Pediatrix® Child Neurology Consultants of Austin. “Many parents have told me they see increased impulsivity following consumption of sugary drinks or food in their children,” said Dr. Karnik.
