At nearly six months old, most babies begin to display readiness for trying solid foods, and with that comes changes in poops. "If you thought baby poop smelled before, just wait until they start eating solid food!" said Christopher Klunk, M.D., a board-certified neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Texas. “Expect changes in color, texture and smell, and keep an eye out for the same things that would’ve been concerning before,” said Dr. Klunk. That includes poop that’s black, red or white, contains mucus or blood or shows signs of constipation.
