About Our Practice
Welcome to Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists of the Mountain States where we provide compassionate, high quality care to pregnant women and their unborn babies in both Utah and Idaho. Our practice specializes in the care of women who are considered high-risk: such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple gestations, recurrent miscarriages, suspected fetal defects, autoimmune disorders, preterm delivery, preeclampsia, family history of genetic diseases as well as other complications. We also perform routine ultrasounds, nuchal translucency measurement, detailed scans of fetal anatomy, fetal echocardiography, non-invasive genetic screening and diagnostic prenatal testing (amniocentesis). We are an additional resource for you and your doctor as you make decisions during, or prior to a pregnancy. We are accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
Maternal-fetal medicine specialists
Our board-certified maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists care for expectant mothers with complicated or high-risk pregnancies. In addition to a four-year obstetrics and gynecology residency, our MFM specialists have undergone three additional years of fellowship training. Their core focus is to:
- Oversee existing health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
- Manage pregnancy-related maternal medical issues, such as preeclampsia.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and procedures to identify possible congenital abnormalities and genetic disorders.
- Monitor babies’ development and growth.
- Identify potential concerns and propose solutions for future pregnancies.
Obstetric hospitalists
In addition to our MFM specialists, our team includes a group of board-certified OB/GYN physicians assigned to the labor and delivery unit at St. Mark's Hospital. These OB/GYNs, referred to as OB Hospitalists, are skilled at inpatient pregnancy problem assessment and management. They also provide labor management, supervision and delivery as needed. Our OB hospitalists are at St. Mark's Hospital 24/7, ensuring patients receive high-quality, safe and immediate care.
